Failed DIY But A Productive Sunday

Because I'm such a good blogger, I decided to try a DIY project to share with you! Issue is- it failed.

I had this link from Erica saved in my email forever because I've been wanting to do it. I had a section on my counter of bottles I wanted to do something with and I figure this is something I'd have to do (at least partially) outside so I should do it while it's nice out. I didn't want to spend $20 on a glass cutting kit. So I figured I'd do it the hard creative way. Using Pinterest. Except my computer is being a douche and I'm on the blogger app.

Not like the pin matters. It didn't work anyway.

Also Tom was SUPER against me doing this because I am "accident prone" but I was like nahhhh it's fine. So I set out to turn a wine bottle into a drinking glass.

Instructions:
1. tie the string around the bottle where you want to cut it
2. cut off the ends of the string
3. slide the string off and dip in nail polish remover
4. slide the string back on to where you want to cut it
5. hold the bottle sideways and light the string
6. rotate the bottle as it's burning so it warms up evenly for about 20 seconds
7. dunk bottle in ice water. it should break in the place the string was

Except no. I had a completely intact, slightly warm wine bottle. I realized that the RELAX wine bottles have a kind of coating on them so I tried a regular bottle. Again, no. So I kinda smashed the bottle on the sink. Nope. Then I got super cranky.

Then I decided I was gonna do something else crafty/creative because I didn't want to do dishes.

So I put together this wine cork serving tray that I gave Tom almost 2 years ago. That was fun. Lil tried to help.
Then I painted my nails all fancy while playing fetch with Lils grimy ball the whole time.

Glam Wine Bottle DIY

I actually posted this on my The Blog That Must Not Be Named.. aka my first one that I didn't like. But I figured I'd repost it here cuz why the fuck not?

My girlfriend had been having some boy issues and my biggest peice of advice was "just relaxxxxx!" It got to the point where she'd say something, then follow it up with, "I know, I know, 'relaxxxxx.'"

So I'm at the liquor store and I see a bottle of RELAX wine but in red. Red is kinda her color so I'm like YES. I was also going thru a "I could prob put glitter on this" phase and decided to do just that.

(excuse the horrible pictures. I was even more of a baby blogger then)

- jewels (I used the kind with adhesive already on the back)
- loose glitter (I used Recollections "Fine Glitter")
- Mod Podge
- one of those foam brush things
- spray sealant
- liquor/ wine/ beer bottle

1. use the foam brush to paint on a layer of Mod Podge (it dries clear)
2. sprinkle the glitter over the Mod Podge-d area
3. LET DRY!
4. repeat step 1, 2 and 3 until it looks the way you want
5. add jewels!

6. spray the sealant according to directions **DO THIS OUTDOORS**
7. LET DRY

And now you have an present for someone that is functional and fucking awesome. Or you can keep it yourself.

SPD: Glitzy Ring Holder

WOO second week in a row with Saw It, Pinned It, Did It!

SUPER CRAFTY UP IN HEAAAA (sorry about that..)

I’m sharing my sparkly, bejewewled, glittery, purply, pink framed ring holder!

I pinned this a while ago and thought it was ADORABLE. Then saw it on Meg’s post about manicures and was like I realllly want to do that. So now here we are!

Disclaimer: I am NOT engaged. I have a ring I wear always and THAT (until further notice) will be the only ring on this holder.

So here we go!

Step 1. Gather materials

I got everything from Michaels. The tiny frame, glitter paint writer, pins and gems. I had the ribbon at home.

Step 2. Start adding sparkles!

I didn’t plan any of it out because I’m lazy and easily frustrated fun and spontaneous. Which is also the reason I got the gems with sticky backs so I didn't have to glue them on. Then I randomly added the glitter glue.

Step 3. "Measure" the ribbon and cut it so it fits in the frame

I suggest waiting for the glitter glue to dry. I also suggest using ribbon just wide enough to fit in and cover the whole opening. Mark it and cut the ribbon

Step 4. Add the pin

Poke your pin through the the frame opening. (The frame I got had thin plastic instead of glass so I just poked it through the plastic and the ribbon) Then once the frame is closed and secured, bend the pin so that it sticks out from the frame.

Step 5. Hang your bling!

YAYY it looks so cute! Tom was impressed. THANKS TOM. I’m prob gonna make one for the kitchen sink too.

And here it is in its new home! (With my last SPD project)

Saw It, Pinned It, Did It: Makeup Brush Holder DIY

Before I get to SPD, I wanna mention I'm guest posting at Sheree's blog, The Hartungs! Go check it out!

This is my first Saw It, Pinned It, Did It link up and I’m sooo excited! I’ve had a LOT of projects pinned that I’ve been meaning to do and this is my perfect excuse!

Today’s project is one I’m sure everyyyyyone has seen. There are tons of variations of it.

So I went to Michaels and the dollar store and picked up this shit

You just hot glue the vase/cup/thing to the candle stick and add the stones!
(also don’t use superglue, it didn’t stay. That may have been the steam from showers but still)

1. gather materials

2. hot glue the top of the candle stick

3. place the cup/vase on the candle stick and press down

4. pour you stones (or any other filler you chose) into the cup

And voilĂ !

**SIDE RANT: people who say “wa la!” or something similar make me really mad. It’s voilĂ . It’s ok if you don’t use the accent mark but for fuck sake it’s a word not onomonopia. Rant over.**

Here’s the finished product!

And here it is in its natural habitat!

Yay! So cute right? I know it doesn't match but I liked the beads and whatever. It's my bathroom.

So easy tho! (and cheap! It cost like $7 not including the gluFollow me on Pinterest

Easy Fancy-Sounding Dinner- Linguini with White Clam Sauce

I’m really not so great at cooking. And because of that I refuse to cook. I've probably made 5 meals in the year and a half we've been in our apartment. If Tom didn’t cook for me I’d prob have eggos and peanut butter or ice cream and tots for dinner every night. (Really I try to have that anyway but Lil judges me) Tom has faith in me tho. He’s either blinded by love, training me to be a good housewife one day or he’s an idiot. Jury's out. I’m at about .500 as far as meals go (NBD that’s a baseball thing. See I’ll be a great wife even if I can’t cook) Really tho, I fail MISERABLY half the time. Then I take Tom out to din or I order out. The other half of the time I do alright but clearly nothing good enough to make it on the food network.

My mom knows I’m a kitchen dud so she gave us marinade/sauce packets that are realllllly easy and you just have to buy pasta or instant rice and meat. I was all excited cuz I’m like ok, there’s no way I can fuck this up! We (keep in mind the “WE” part) decided on shrimp scampi and a few days later it was d-day (aka the day I’d make din) Tom had gone out on break to get the linguini.  So we’re sitting at lunch and Tom says, “I wanna tell you now so you don’t get mad at me later, but I don’t like shrimp scampi.” Honestly? THIS is the reason I’m as crazy as I am.

So we whisper argue in the break room for a few minutes and finally he’s like, "Well we can make this" and points to the recipe on the pasta box. K. Great. Linguini with white clam sauce it is.

He made me make it when we got home (since he went BACK out to get clams and parsley) but I DID IT and it was reallll good. And If I can make it I swear you can!

The Ingredients
Ingredients:
- 1 package linguini
- 3 cans minced clams (6 1/2 oz each)
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground back pepper
- 1/2 cup olive oil
- 1/2 cup parsley
- 3 cloves of garlic
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Wine isn't listed but it's DEFINITELY a must. I recommend anywhere from 3 glasses to a bottle.

Directions:
1. Before boiling the water, add a bit of olive oil and salt to the water. Then chop up the garlic, and parsley and open the cans of clams.
2. Cook the pasta according to the directions
3. Lightly brown garlic in hot oil
4. Remove from heat and add all other ingredients (including clam sauce in the cans)
5. Cook over low heat for about 5 minutes or until heated through
6. Drain pasta
7. Pour sauce over pasta and serve

Finished product!

SO GOOD. I know the final picture isn't amazing but again it's with my phone so gimme a break. I also know that there are a few stray linguini that are hanging out, but they wanted to be in the picture too. Plus I'm messy and shit happens.
