Boy Behind My Blog: Tom. Is. Nuts.

We missed last  months, but we're back on the Boy Behind The Blog Train. I usually comment on each of Tom's responses, but today, I will not. I had the same reaction to all 5 answers: laughing a whole lot and "where the FUCK do you come up with this shit?!"

So enjoy the crazy that is my boyfriend.

1. If you were an animal, what animal would you be?
I would have to go with shape shifter. Is that an animal? Ah, fuck it.  I’m gonna just pretend it is.  Let’s face facts, being a shape shifter would be perfect. Why? Because then I could be any  animal that I wanted.  I could base my animal de jour off of my mood de jour.  For example, if Adriana asked if I was hungry, I could answer by shifting into a wolf.  To which she would respond, “I wish you would just fucking tell me your hungry instead of always making an elaborate Duran Duran reference!”   That’s just one example, but the possibilities are endless.  If I was feeling sad I could shift into Eeyore.  If I was feeling dramatic I could shift into a chipmunk.  I was feeling patriotic I could shift into a fucking Bald Eagle and pound Budweiser AmeriCans on the roof of the Jefferson Memorial.  AmeriCAWWW!

I've had a couple emails, and for those of you confused about the dramatic chipmunk this short video explains it for you.

2. What is your favorite meal?
This is a tough one.  Again, I feel like it’s situational.  I’m sayin’ I love beef stew. But I wouldn’t want to have it on a 110 degree balls hot day and I love lobster but wouldn’t want to have it anywhere but Abbott’s Lobster in the Rough in Noank, CT or anytime but the summer.  So maybe the best way to answer this is by season.  Winter: Beef Stew. Spring: Cookout Fare (dogs, burgs, brats, pasta salad, potato salad, cole slaw). Summer: Lobster. Fall: Spaghetti.

3. Do you use any forms of Social Media? What is your favorite?
I’m on: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Google Plus, and Adult Friend Finder  er…PetFinder.  I think twitter is my favorite. The main reason being it’s the only social media platform I’m on where my feed isn’t absolutely blown the shit up by the same three people every day.
creeper.
4. Beer, wine, liquor, other, or none of the above?
I would love to know what the “other” option is. Is it weed? Blow? Pills? Pirates Booty? Baby Snickers? Pixie Sticks? Mallomars? Samoas? Ring Pops? Gummy Bears? Kettle Corn? Starbucks? Starburst? Star fruit? Star Wars? Starr Jones? Gushers? Pita Chips? Guac and Chips? Bugles? Cap’n Crunch?  Nilla Wafers? Red Bull? or Big League Chew?

That said, I really like beer.

5. Complete the sentence: “Never have I ever…”

…sprinted through Times Square being chased by an army of spider monkeys dressed as the paparazzi, but wearing the mask of Voldemort and riding on Segway scooters without helmets, whilst Miley Cyrus’ foam finger hangs like a halo above David Hasselhoff who is there trying to get Darth Vader and Ewoks to come together and record a new dubstep version of “Toxic” despite the fact that Britney has explicitly said that she is not willing to sign over the rights to the song unless the Hoff hassles Justin Beiber out of becoming the biggest doucher of all time.

And there you have it. Tom, the weirdo. And I'm allowed to say that cuz we're in love.

The Boy Behind My Blog: Rando Tings About Tom

It's time for another round of Boys Behing The Blog! I have to admit, I love Mal and Stephanie and I LOVE this whole idea butttt I gotta say- I think Tom is the best guy out there. I mean sureeee I'm a bit biased but whatever. Really, he loves writing. And loves being an ass. And he's hilarious. This week didn't have a theme so here are the 5 questions and his ridiculous answers.

Boys Behind The Blog

1. What celebrity would play you in a movie about your life?
I spend an hour each day meditating on this question, because, let’s face it, nothing could be more important.  I’ve been told that I look like Cameron from Ferris Bueller’s Day off, but that actor is like 65 now – so he’s out.  Maybe Paul Rudd? If he’s busy, then the guy who played Steve Urkel.  Not because we look alike, but because he’s been out of work for a while and I feel bad about that, kid’s got chops.  Remember the episodes were he convincingly portrayed both Urkel and Stefan? I really thought that guy was going places. If Urkel is busy than either Meryl Streep or Cate Blanchette.  Those chicks can act the shit out of anything.  They could be cast as a rocking chair and have you inspired and weeping within 30 seconds.
Paul Rudd all the way. They are the same person. (Granted Paul Rudd is an actor so I have no idea what he's reallllly like) every movie he's in, at least 20 times I end up looking at Tom and saying "THAT is you."
2. What is your dream car?
I’ve never been much of a gearhead, so I’m not one to pine over cars.  Growing up I always wanted a Corvette Stingray.  Now that I’m older I would probably settle for anything that doesn’t blow a tranny. That didn’t come out right…
HAHA do you guys get it?! See how funny and offensive he is? How can I not be in love with this kid.
3. Do you have any tattoos? What, where, why?
I don’t have any tats.  My rebellious side manifested in a $2000 a day sewing habit.  But, thanks to rehab I haven’t touched a needle in 5 years.
hahaha I don't know how he comes up with this stuff. I've never seen him sew in the 3 years I've known him tho so I guess rehab worked.
4. Boxers or briefs?
I actually go boxer briefs.  It’s the support of a brief with comfort of a boxer.  That said I try to go commando as much as possible.
He has about 400 pairs. And gets cranky if I ever wear them to bed. Also going commando is unecessary and doesn't happen.
5. List 3 random facts about yourself...
1. My first name is Thomas, I was named after my great grandfather who was a captain in the Hartford police department.
2. When I was 22 I stopped wearing a pair of sneakers that I had worn regularly for about three years.  In that time, I wore them in 5 countries across 3 continents.
3. I got to meet and shake hands with Leslie Nielson.  I grew up watching his movies Airplane, Naked Gun, Dracula Dead and Loving It, etc.  The story goes that, one summer night my friends and I were hanging out and got a frantic call from my sister who was working for the summer at an ice cream shop.  She said, “Tommy! You have to come to the center Leslie Nielson is here!”  We made the trip in about half the time it should have taken.  We got to the ice cream shop and he was gone.  We went back outside and turned a corner and there he was sitting on a bench eating his ice cream.  We panicked, lost our nerve and walked awkwardly passed him.  Then stopped, decided amongst ourselves it was ridiculous to not a least say hi.  So we took a deep breath and did the walk of shame back towards him.  We stopped and said “Hi Mr. Nielson!”  He said, “Hey I remember you guys… from two seconds ago when you walked passed me.” We spent a couple of minutes talking to him and he just could not have been nicer to us.  It’s always great when you meet your idol or a celebrity and they are aren’t a complete dick.
Ok, I knew #1, he really does get attached to sneakers. I made him get rid of the pair after the one he mentions in #2 and I had NO IDEA about #3!! I feel he probably told me at some point but I wasn't listening.

So you love him even more than you did before you read this. I know, it happens. Also I feel Kristen Wiig would be appropriate for playing me. Or Tina Fey. They both seem disheveled and embarrassing.
basically us

And now meet one of the pretty faces on my sidebar! Meg is a Nothern girl (woo!) but she moved South with her husband and incredibly adorable pups. Her blog is so fun to read and she also is doing some design work which all looks incredible! Go say hi, she's awesome!

1. When and why did you start blogging?
I started blogging a few months ago shortly after my relocation from the North to the South. I started to blog because I wanted a hobby that would fill my free time (boy does it ever) and a way for me connect with other people who maybe going through the same trials and tribulations that I am facing.
2. What's your favorite post you've written and why?
Woof thats a toughie...I would say probably one of my favorite posts is Real Housewives of Orange County. Where would we be without them?
3. What's been your favorite part of the summer so far?
My favorite part of summer so far is enjoying a cold brew while sitting on my back porch on a warm summer night. For me its a little piece of heaven.

The Boy Behind My Blog: Bloggy Stuff

Ok so second post of the day? NBD. I couldn't pass this one up tho. Mal and Stephanie came up with this adorable monthly link up called The Boys Behind The Blog and I immediately knew I wanted to convince Tom to do it. He's hilarious and smart and silly and fun and BLAHBLAH I know, you get it. But now you actually get to know him better!! He was more than happy to go along with this and I loved reading his responses. And because I can't keep my mouth shut, I added my thoughts in purple. And duh, pictures.

1. Does your wife/girlfriend/fiance use your real name or a nickname on her blog?
She uses my real name which I’m ok with.  That said, I’d be open to a nickname provided it was something cool like NightRaven or Notorious T or Old Bean or Skip McTangles.

Ok, I don't know why he thinks he's cool enough for those nick names. Although Skip McTangles made me laugh out loud. He calls me Bev or Beverly so he doesn't get NightRaven. At some point I'll tell you the story of how I became Bev.

At a family grad party last weekend.
2. If you had a blog, what would the title be?
That would depend on the theme of the blog: Wine Blog - Sauvignon Blog.  Beer Blog – Ziggy Zoggy Ziggy Zoggy Blog Blog Blog! Nausea Blog – Ugh! I Feel awful! I Think… Yeah… I Gotta Blog! Passive Aggression Blog – It’s fine..You Don’t Have to Read It… I Mean I Put A Lot of Effort Into It.. But… Oh really? You Think This A Long Title for a Blog? You’re Probably Right.. What do I Know About Blogging?

Sauvignon Blog is taken. He looked it up. But this answer is exactly why he shouldn't have his own blog.
Jammin'
3. Do you ever feel ignored by her because of the blog?
All the time.  I keep trying to explain to her that listening to my original acrostic poetry should be her top priority, but she just doesn’t get it.  In all seriousness, blogging has become a passion for her that imbues her with happiness and fulfillment.  And, since it’s not heroin, I’d  have to be an incredible a-hole not to support her 100%.

He really is awesome about it. And understanding. Most nights he goes to bed way before me. But seeing as we live in a studio, he's really not going far. Also "imbues"? I literally had to look that up. TOO SMART BRO.
In love.
4. How has her blog changed or evolved throughout your relationship?
About a year ago she had another blog called Easy Peasy Glam.  It was a style and DIY sitch.  It wasn’t a bad blog there just really wasn’t much of her in it.  It felt kinda forced, like if Justin Beiber tried to record a country album.  I think she did about half a dozen posts before she gave it up.   But, about six months ago she started writing the first batch of posts for Dog Hair is An Accessory.  The style, format and tone was much more her.  She had found her outlet and her bloggy voice.  She fully committed herself to networking and link ups and making awesome blog friends. Our family and friends began to make a point of telling her how much they loved her blog.  In short, she had Mofoing Arrived!  WOOOOO! WOOOOO! WOOOO! WOOOOOO! WOOOOO!

Mofoing? It's fine. Is it that obvious I love this blog? I mean I do. Also I talk about my bloggy friends a lot, he knows all of you guys!
Upset because he's too full to eat his ice cream
5. What is your favorite post on her blog?
The post about the Maned Fox and the Beardsley Zoo is pretty high up there.  I love the part of that post where she lists the animals at the zoo and explains what is so great about them, which typically is that they are tiny or something along those lines.  Also Lil will be pissed if I don’t say any post with her in it.  So, yeah, any post with Lil.

Mmm good save there Dad, Lil reads my blog everyday and she would have totally bit you in the ass if you didn't mention her!

PLAYin' BALL

WOOO I HAVE A POST TO LINK UP WITH SARAH FOR FAN FRIDAY!

I have a thing for baseball players. Every single boy I've dated played baseball. EVERY SINGLE GUY I HAD A CRUSH ON PLAYED BASEBALL. Not joking.
(Except for my most recent ex. He played hockey. It was a bad life choice.)

Tom played baseball from the time he could waddle to first base up until he graduated high school. He decided he didn't wanna play in college but he definitely could have. He was pretty fucking good at it. It runs in the family. His dad was dirty, his grandfather was incredible. Uncles, cousins- basically anyone in the family who happened to be a dude played ball for some extended period of time.
fucking cute right?
Unfortunatly for me, he hasn't hasn't played since we've met. We did play a season of co-ed softball with the team from our company but that was just absolutely ridiculous. (Let's put it this way, I was one of the better people on the team) I still loved watching him play. A guy making a double play and throwing the ball to first while in the air is probably the hottest thing in the entire world.

**starts daydreaming**

OK back to the present! Tom and I went with a friend to a restaurant by our apartment on Monday. We were there for about a second when Tom's cousin shows up out of nowhere and comes over and sits down to hang out with us for a bit. He mentions he's coaching/managing a twilight team. (Twilight is a league for people who are too old to play in other organized leagues. It's usually kids out of college up to their late 20's) Tom does the "Oh yea man, that sounds great." in a voice that suggests he's mildly into the idea. Meanwhile I'm literally dancing in my seat and smiling so big it hurts.

Yesterday was his first game. There are no organized practices or anything and Tom hadn't played since college but he was SUCH A STUD. I mean I guess I'm biased but he really was great. First of all he looks hot as shit in his baseball pants (I'm convinced God designed baseball pants) and since he's a genuiniely talented player he looked awesome catching a fly ball hit to right field and getting a really nice hit and making a run. NBD.

GAH I LOVE BASEBALL.
Our awkward little fam
If you can't tell by the picture it rained. Quite a good amount. We were all struggling.

Also Lil came to help cheer on Dad and she was pretty confused/distrought about the fact that she couldn't catch the ball every time it was hit or thrown. She also HATES rain and this was the longest she had been out in it. She cried a bunch. Poor Ting.
When we got home and warmed up (and showered) we went to eat. When we got home and checked the mail, I saw that my GroopDealz package came! You know those flower statement necklaces that so many people have and it's usually like a coral or red color? WELP I got a white one and it looks stupid on me. Upside? It looks great on Lil.
Model.
Unfortunately, Tom's team lost but it doesn't really matter too much to me since I win whenever Tom puts on the uniform. And because there isn't a song called "In Those Baseball Pants" Ginuwine's "In Those Jeans" will do to link up with Whitney
