My People

My best friends are the same people I was best friends with in high school and middle school.
except for the people behind the heart, these 5 kids
have been, are, and will always be, my best friends.
They're the people that taught me when to wear a ponytail and when not to.
They're the first ones who I told about my first kiss
They're the ones that I was super upset about leaving when we all went to college
They're the fist people I wanted to see when I got home
They're the ones I told Tom about saying, "you HAVE to meet them"
They will be the people I have at my wedding, baby showers and 100th birthday party
high school graduation
They're my people.

I've met NO ONE like them. I've never loved anyone the way I love them. And I'm SO lucky to have them.

The reason this is such a mushy post, is that 3 of us got to hang out Tuesday night. And the night before, 5 of us got to hang out. That doesn't happen very often.

Tuesday night, we went to the Goo Goo Dolls & Matchbox 20 concert at Mohegan Sun. (If you follow me on twitter or instagram, you know this) So we were sitting in the stands, sing-screaming songs from 1996 and it hit me: I'm SO lucky!

My friends mean so much to me. They're more than family. They're the best people in my life and I wouldn't be who I am without them.

John Reznik, lead singer of the Goo Goo Dolls mentioned before a song, that it was released in 2004. That was when they did their last tour. The 2 girls I was with, and one of the girls we had seen the night before saw that tour.

And we've been friends for 14 years.

That's over half my life. And even tho the nights we sing-scream 90's songs, laugh til it hurts, lose our voices, hug too many times and never stop smiling don't happen as often as they did, I am SO LUCKY that they still happen and that these people are in my life in the same capacity they were 14 years ago.

I get along with most people but I don't "make friends" easily. I mean the blog world has been kind of an exception to that.. but IRL, I'm very intolorant and my friend standards are high. The reason for this is because my friends are kick ass and if you're not, I don't wanna be friends with you.

Moral of the story: I love my friends.
another photo from the 2004 GGD concert photo album. It's captioned:
"hahahahahahahaha what a douche"

THAT is a true friend.

  1. There is nothing quite like your core group of friends. Awesome that yall still hang out like no time has passed. And I'm obsessed with the fact that you blocked some people out with a heart in the first picture.

  2. You're a pretty lucky lady! I lost touch with most of my best friends from high school (you know - stupid high school drama), but my college friends are here to stay and I don't know what I'd do without my people! Xoxo

  5. I lost touch with a lot of my friends from high school- it was mostly boys, and let's be honest- they aren't great about calling me up to chat, so I was starting to feel like it was a one way street.

But I have a bachelorette party this weekend for my best friend since first grade...we definitely have that kind of relationship and she's the best!

And scream singing to 90s songs? Nothing better.
