I'm Basically Posh Spice.

Oh hey..

Yup. This is actally happening. Two days in a row.

I'm gonna try writing a real post today. You tell me how it goes.

I posted on instagram the other day that I'm on poshmark. (It's a site as I just found out since I linked to it.) If you didn't see my instagram post, what the HELL are you doing not following me on instagram? But really, on poshmark, my username is @acosta.

For those of you that don't know what the effing A poshmark is, now's the time! Sieze the day! Carpe the fuck out of that diem! Also I'm gonna tell you about it now so you don't have to go figure out on your own. Although you're all more than capable, I'm sure.

So I may be telling you guys about something that you beeeen doinnn and then you're thinking "wow. really? other people have been blogging this whole time you've been putzing about, you twat" but whatevsss guys just hear me out.

Here's what you do: you download this app and set up your shit and then you take pictures thru the app of all that stuff in your closet that are in the "this is totally going to be cute with the right statement necklace" pile, or the "but what if I neeeeeeed powder blue cargo capris to wear with a top I get?" pieces and then people buy them and YOU GET PAID. It's real.

I've bought things from randos and I've sold things to randos. And it's FANTASTIC. It's also great because it kinda feels like fake money since you get the money in your account and you can just purchase things thru the app with that credit! Or you can cash out and buy things other than clothes or shoes (booze).

So go get the app. Or if you're on it, find me for christ sake. And buy my shit. I'll probably buy yours. And if you're on the app leave a comment with your username and/or find me on the app.

Know What I Hate? Jean Shopping.

Last weekend I went jean shopping. It was horrible.

{insert "OMG I KNOWWWW!" here}

I went EVERYWHERE. I tried on every brand from Mudd to True Religion and everything in between.

I have about 13 pairs of jeans and I wear 2 regularly. I haven't gotten rid of those other 11 because they fit. Kinda. I mean they fit my hips, make my ass look great, and they are the perfect rise in the front. They're so comfy and have just the right amount of stretch. Plus they weren't cheap.

So why don't I wear them?

They are flared. And not like "boot cut, slight flare over converse" flare, like a "who's having a 70's themed party because all I need are the gogo boots to go with these babies" flared. And not to mention, I'm 5'1 so there is pretty much no brand of jeans I can wear off the rack unless I cuff them. (Thank god that's trendy)

But I know fall is coming, weather (HAH get it?) I like it or not. And I have a bunch of cute boots (including the 3 I bought for under $70 total this weekend!!!!!) that I will be wearing always so I knew I needed some new skinny jeans.

I went in every store. And tried every brand. Including but not limited to:
Express - Michael Kors - Ann Taylor - LOFT - J. Crew - Ralph Lauren Polo - Target
Hollister - Old Navy - Gap - Banana Republic - Levi's - Nordstrom - Charlotte Russe
Paige - Vigoss - J Brand -True Religion - 7 for all mankind - Joe's - Citizens - Lucky
and manyyyy more.

I was shopping with Tom's mom and every time I came out it was like a "mm probably not those" kind of look. Hell, I was even "fitted" in the Levi's store but I was between the "demi curve" and "bold curve" so neither fit right. It wasn't easy to get measured either. You can take the 3 question test here. Not helpful.

I'm a size 6 aka 27 depending on the sizing of the brand. Some jeans I tried on made me feel fat, some made my ass look horrible, some were decorated so much Pauly D would blush, some were too faded, some were too high and some were all of the above.

I was exhausted and very defeated. We walked out of J.Crew empty handed (hellllo, I'm not 6'9! How do normal people wear those jeans!) And one of the employees asked why nothing worked and then suggested Off 5th (the Saks outlet). I'm thinking fuck that. But Tom's mom said "we may as well try" and that was all the convincing it took. We went in, I tried on literally 9 pairs of jeans and ended up with the True Religion Stella Skinny jeans. Not thrilled about the price but they were 40% off regular price and I'm planning on wearing them for basically the rest of my life so I convinced myself.

Then, just because we can't say no to Marshalls, we went for the 2nd day in a row and found the Paige Skyline Skinny jeans there. SO thrilled. Much easier on my wallet and I'm wearing them today and love them.

I ended up spending WAY more than I wanted to on 2 pairs of jeans but I did it. I went with the ones that looked, felt and fit the best. Unfortunately they happened to be premium brands.
Paige Skyline Skinny                                              True Religion Stella Skinny

They're still both too long for me but that's something I'm used to/ok with. As for my other 11 pairs, I plan to bring them to a tailor and see how much it would cost to turn them into skinny jeans!

So that was my very long winded jean hunt story. I also found THE PERFECT boyfriend jeans at Marshalls. They're SOLD Designer Lab and they were amazing. But they only had asize 29 and 30 and they blatantly didn't fit. So now I will be spending the rest of my days searching for the perfect boyfriend jeans.

A casually fashionable girls work is never done.

To reward you for sitting thru that rant, here's an awesome giveaway hosted by Marquis from Simply Clarke

Meet My Bloggy Little! Go Check Her Out!

Memorial Day Shenans

Hope you guys all linked up with us yesterday! It's still going so you have time! Since yesterday was the link up I'm updating you on my weekend a bit late. I'm also guest posting on for Charissa from The Smashbook! Check me outttttt

My weekend was super fun and since it was Tom and my 2 year anniversary on Monday and we took Tuesday off so it was a very extended weekend. And here it is-mostly thru pictures.

Friday we drove down to the cottage after work. I was basically jumping out of my seat the whole car ride. I love it down there! We of course stopped at the liquor store and found adult juice boxes which were very necessary.

Then we continued to the cottage. It was quite a chilly day but we had to take a walk down to the beach.

This is what the beach looks like. After Hurricane Sandy hit there was a lot of sand deposited in the boat basin. Now they're removing it and drying out so they can get it off the beach completely. It's called shit kicking dredging. It will be that way for L's bachelorette party down at the cottage next weekend but after a bottle glass or 2 of vodka wine we probably won't worry too much about "rules."

Saturday Tom headed out early to go to J's bachelor party which consisted of paintball, BBQ, casino and booze. Tom's mom, L and I went shopping. Duh.
Necessities.
It was national wine day so I clearly bought wine glasses. Two at Pier 1, and one at HomeGoods. They were all under $5 each! And I got a great new maxi dress that I'm pumped about. (Is everyone else as obsessed with maxi dresses as I am?) Also, I found a $3 pair of sunnies that matched my nail polish. (Essie- play date)
BDE.
It was freezing that night and Tom was bro-ing out at the casino so I bundled up a LOT and sent him a picture of me under the covers and he sent me a picture of him drinking.

Adorable right?
Sunday Tom and his two cousins came back to the cottage after the festivities a little worse for the wear but in one piece.

It was also Tom's cousin's 1 year wedding anniversary. They got married close to the town the cottage was in so they came back to the scene of the wedding to celebrate. That means we got to help them celebrate! They and a few other members of the fam came down and spent some time at the cottage. That was awesome.
On their wedding day.
When they went off to do anniversary things. Tom's mom, L and I went grocery shopping and clearly had to stop for ice cream on the way home.
Cookies and cream with brownie bites YO

Then we had an incredible happy hour with about 30lbs of homemade guac and lots of wine.
See my wine glass? GAH. Love it.
Monday was our actual anniversary but we hung out with fam for the day. We went for a few walks around the neighborhood and then went to a delicious din with Tom's parents. We looked cute.
Patriotic

Tuesday Tom's parents left for home and we spent the day wine-ing an being in love.

Also I'm drunk now and writing the rest of this post via the Blogger app so just bear the fuck with me. Also. Tom just asked how drunk I was so that means I'm prob hammered.

ANYWAY. We went to Stonington Vineyard first. The woman there was creepy as shit and had a shirt the same color as the shirt I had on and I didn't like it.

After that we went to Chamard Vineyard.
That was WODERFUL.

Then I was drunk.
Then I typed up SO MUCH OF THE REST OF THIS POST AND DIDN'T SAVE IT.

Then we decided to have some of the cheese ball that Tom's mom sent home with us. It was a disaster.
Mess.
It's fine. Then we went to Gouviea Vineyard which is where Tom first told me he loved me (AWOMGADORABLE!SOCUTERIGHT?) and I harassed the person working there with 872820 questions. Then I got more drunk.
Wine. Wine. Pallet Cleanser.
And now were back to real time and we're on our way back home to pick up Lil from the kennel and we're blaring the Wrecking Ball album by Bruce Springsteen. If you don't know it I hate you. Ok no but you have to listen to it. It's incredible. Also since his nickname is The Boss you have no choice.

Now we have Lil. About a million dollars and a happy seizure later.

We then got take out Thai from our fav place (people in the Hartford area- it's Hot Basil on New Park in West Hartford. YOU HAVE TO GO) and watched The Dictator while Lil was passed out on our bed.

It was a really fun weekend, and a great way to spend an anniversary! Get ready for tomorrow when Sarah from Venus Trapped in Mars guest posts while I'm off helping the dear ERW: MOH Extrodinare host L's bachelorette bash!!

Also if you haven't linked up with us for Behind Closed Doors, there is still time!!! Go here and link up your posts!

Bridesmaid Planning Pins

This past weekend as you all know, I went to New York with Tom and his parents and we visited with L and J. As you may also know, L and J are getting MARRIED!! In just 2 months!!! (so. fucking. pupmpeddd.) Tom and I are in the wedding party so of course there was some wedding talk while we visited and did other fun NY tings.

I decided to share all the pins that I'm using for getting ready for the wedding!

Also, I'm convinced a man invented pinterest so his girlfriend could find more dinner recipes and then we all started pinning Chanel bags and engagement rings and nursery plans and they were like fuckkkkkk. Whatev suckers.

Now I have all my accessories, hair, make up, and obv, dress planned! I didn't share the dress but it's gorgeous and amazing and as I've mentioned, it has pockets.

Weekend Shenanigans

LINK UPP YO
with Sami and Bre

Tom and I won third place in trivia!!! (On Thursday. Be cool about it tho, it's close enough.) If you  follow me on instagram you already knew that but I'M SO PUMPED ABOUT IT! We won prizes too! (Actually we were tied with "Unfriendly Couple" from our buillding and we had to play rock paper sicssors for the tie breaker and I WON) (Also- always start with sicssors and then gauge your opponent from there. For real.) (Also- I just typed "freal" instead of "for real." I like it.) We got 50's style posters of a few of the beers they brew there. I want to frame one since I'm so pumped.

Tom and I went out for a drink with our friends and may have gotten a sweeeet souviner. I was supposed to go out for a friends birthday but I may have fallen asleep.. Stop. I was tired. It was a long week.
On Saturday, Lil and I woke up early and met my Dad at the reservoir and ran 3 miles! Then Tom and I went to the Beardsley Zoo in Bridgeport, CT just like we planned! FALSE. WE DID NOT. Lil had a vet appointment that I TOTALLY forgot about because it wasn't in my iPhone calendar (yea I really use that). I tried to argue that because the zoo trip WAS in my calendar it must be more important but Tom didn't agree. We were at the vet from 11am to 1pm. Then Tom was hungry and Bridgeport is an hour away. UGH SO UPSET. Next weekend it's supposed to rain. I'M NEVER GONNA GET TO SEE THE MANFOX BEFORE IT DIES. Read about what a manfox is here. (Also, that kind of implies the manfox is terminal or in periless danger. Niether are true to my knowlegde, but this thing better not die before I see it)

ANYWAY then I went to HomeGoods store near us with my girlfriends. It was a bad decision in the best way. I always go nuts at that place. I'm surprised I haven't come home with a old trunk or a zebra chaise lounge or one of those candle holders that look like wine glasses or these AWESOME yarn elephant and deer.

I did restrain myself and only got a wine glass and 2 picture frames.

Then I spent a night in with Lil while Tom bro'd out with his buddy. We blogged and watched NatGeo documentaries on sharks and birds of paradise. (Note: They were separate documentaries)

Sunday, I dragged Tom to the outlets! (He needs new jeans and I need the j. crew factory store) After a hard 2 hours of shopping we went to the conviently placed vineyard down the street. (If you live in CT, you gotta get in on this wine trail thing. In fact, I feel so strongly about it that I'll post about it tomorrow!)

UGH. Tomorrow (Monday) is supposed to be 70 degrees. And Tuesday is supposed to be 77 degrees!!

And I'll be in my office staring out the window. WORST. Nice weekend weather where you AT!?

Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend!

Spring Shopping Haul

When I decided I was gonna start blogging again, I told myself I was gonna do something different than I was doing with my last blog (easypeasyglam.blogspot.com). That was all about fashion and shoes and me buying a bunch of shit. Here’s the thing tho- I love fashion and shoes and buying shit. So EVEN THO I said I would do something different it doesn’t mean I can't ALSO do some fashion stuff.

I want this to be a blog that is gender neutral. Well mm, that sounds a bit awkward. All gender friendly? NON GENDER SPECIFIC. Ok that works. I wanted this to be a non-gender specific blog. A lot of the blogs I follow (and lovvve) are very focused on females and girly things. And I have just decided that a soon-to-come post will be about why boys should read this too. And I don’t mean just my guy friends who use it to make fun of me. (CHIM- that’s for you)

This post will be one of those ones that boys will hate if it even shows up on their facebook newsfeed. Whatev. Y’all can suck it.

HERE’S SOME SHIT I BOUGHT! I’m TOTALLY (and probably unhealthily) obsessed with most of it. I included links to where you can find things but a bunch of stuff is from Marshalls and that place is amazing but dumb for not having a shopable website.

These are my Easter shoes. 1. Because their style is called Bunny and 2. Because DUH. I have seen these heels SO many times on Hautelook or Rue La La and wanted to get them but I’ve only ever seen them in red or black suede and, unsurprisingly, I have an awesome pair of red suede pumps and a pair of black suede pumps that have a bow on the heel. But I was looking up heels for a coworker to wear with a dress and found these and clearly my priorities shifted. I bought them immediately. I LOVE THEM. Follow me on instagram (ac_glam). You’ll see Easter pics, don’t you worry.

For real, these are amazing. They are SO comfortable and sooo fucking gorgeous! I can honestly barely handle it. In fact, as soon as I got them home I sent a picture to Tom’s cousin (she’s quite the fan of lace) and it was instalove for her as well. They were on sale at the DSW I was at but apparently they aren’t on sale online. Sorry about it.

Will I wear them? Who cares? They’re glittery. Honestly I have NO where to wear something like this but whatev, they were $7. And you don’t NOT get a pair of sparkly shoes when they’re $7. Also.. just remembered I did the same thing with a pair of pink and gold heels last year.. yet to wear them. That just means SO MANY PARTIES (and by parties I mean show up to my friends houses all dressed up for no reason)

Find them here

I’m trying to work statement necklaces into my life but it’s really hard. I loved this because it’s purple, and the right size. I can only find ones that are bigger than my body or ones that are super awkward looking with shit in all the wrong places. I do own a bubble necklace but I wore it once and can’t figure out what to wear it with so now it’s in the “shit I never wear, don’t bother untangling it” jewelry drawer.

Find it here

I got that minty color but it’s soo cute in every color. Also since the lace is so tight/thick/however you wanna describe it, as long as you wear nude colored underthings it isn't noticeably see thru. The fact it's long sleeves doesn't matter since you can catch a breeze and it's not at all skanky!

Find it here

These I'm super excited about. Each under $20! Can't wait to wear these. They're all from Marshalls and I'm planning on wearing one for L and J's Jack and Jill and one for the rehearsal dinner. The white one I just fell in love with. Again, they'll all be on instagram.. because I'm obsessed with it.

Happy Humpday!

Doing Things My Way

Ok guys, I’m blogging again. I started blogging a while back and had big plans which didn’t quite pan out. Mostly because I didn’t find the time to do the stuff I wanted. Also because I wanted to do sort of a “fashion blog” which was a terrible idea because 1) There are about a billion people more fashionable than me with nicer cameras and more voluminous hair and 2) I totally don’t have the budget to have a super high class wardrobe which got a little depressing so I kinda let it go.

This blog is going to be a different deal though. I am pretty sure I’m going through a quarter life crisis and I’m gonna make this blog a virtual diary/ vent machine/a way to talk about things I’m super excited about. Topics are not limited to but will often include: kittens, super hero movies, food, love, shoes, my dog doing cute stuff, my friends being embarrassing. I’ve never been a serious writer but I like sharing and telling stories. Plus I’m really hoping this will be a partial motivator to do more of the things I’ve been wanting to do, like get my apartment into Good Housekeeping order, continuing my education in my field of study (Industrial Organizational Psych which I'll get into later) and finding hair styles I can do in less in 3 minutes.

I love being crafty and I’m moderately good at that. I also love shopping and drinking wine and I’m awesome at those things. My friends are amazing and outrageous, my family is completely nuts, my boyfriend is hilarious and awkward and his family is super fun and full of incredible people. Between that and my overly enthusiastic and anxious dog, I feel like I have some pretty funny shit to talk about. Also, I can’t decide if I should swear in my blog. How do you feel about it? I feel I probably will because I use inappropriate language a LOT when it’s completely unnecessary to do so. Case in point: when normal people say “oh crap” if they drop something I typically say “ugh, dicks!” Yea I know. Super weird. (Also I was gonna “bleep” a part of that out but then it would be d*cks! And I didn’t want you thinking I shouted “ducks!” when I drop things.) On the other hand, I also don’t want to be overly offensive. We’ll see how that works out.

SO my big plan for this tiny blog of mine is to share my life with you. Either you’ll be laughing with me, at me or just think I’m a huge idiot but it is my life and honestly, all those reactions are fair. I mentioned crafting which typically means decorating alcohol related things, DIYs and making things glittery. Even if my craft ends up totally sucking I’ll share the process and final product with you. Shopping is a fav past time, so my new items will inevitably be talked about and reviewed. There will be stories about things that happened and things I wish would happen. Many of them will be hilariously embarrassing.

Basically I’ve decided I’m going to take steps to make myself a happier and better person and this was something I’ve wanted to try/enjoy doing so here it is! Plus it’s a lot easier than committing to run marathons or eat exclusively organic.

-A

p.s. totally don’t expect me to be one of those, “I write every day, no exceptions” bloggers because ain't nobody got time for that. I mean I’ll totally try, and maybe eventually I’ll get there but I have other shit that takes precedent sometimes. Like shoe shopping or keeping my dog out of my closet or sleeping.
